Snubbed by the BCS Championship game, Georgia christened the New Year with a 41-10 victory of Hawaii Warriors. Even though the outcome wasn’t a victory for us,
I will never forget this experience. The game was by far the most exciting, electric and loudest game I have ever been to. The noise level was deafening and was clearly a problem for Colt Brennan and the
offensive unit from the very first play. As I told a Georgia
fan sitting next to me after that first play, “wow, we have never played in this type of atmosphere ever, it's so loud we don’t have a chance!" he replied: welcome to SEC football. I was in awe of how Georgia fans are so organized with every cheer, chant or fight song. It was like being in a country bar with a different line dance for every song... They have a cheer or song for coming onto the field, kickoffs, end of quarter, touchdown, first down, you
name it they will fight song you to the end of the game until you get into your car. Very organized. Hawaii was unbelievably well represented in this game.
The support and turnout was HUGE! Many Georgia fans were very impressed. But Warrior football has a long, long way to go to keep up with SEC or other major conferences. They beat us not just on the field but in the stands, as well. Even their band kicked our ass. It was very impressive. Very! But we keep playing schools like Georgia, Alabama, Florida we will take
note, we will follow, we will win, we will have tradition, strength and pride like the SEC or other majors... Having the Ha'a will be a great tradition and it’s a start. On a side note: Hawaii fans gave a huge long standing ovation to the warrior team with about 2 minutes left to go in the game. It was loud, it was long, it was Aloha! As I cheered and stared, I still couldn’t believe,
Hawaii Warriors in the Sugar Bowl!?! Colt! You must have had a concussion... did you forget? After the game, Colt was escorted off the field into the tunnel. I was sitting right next to the tunnel and in a sad sight, Colt was obviously dejected, didn’t take off his helmet, head and shoulders hanging low and appeared to keep saying "sorry" and shaking his head to the people who he thought he let down. Colt, did you forget what field you were walking off of? Where you carried the whole state to? Where you took this program? You have nothing to be sorry for, nothing! But everyone was sad, as i pee'd in the stall next to Neil Everret ESPN anchor sportscaster, I asked him "brah, what in the world happened to our Warriors?" shaking his head and looking slumped..."I don’t know man, I don’t know" What a Great Season! Look for Bruddas Bouche in Gainsville, Florida to kick off the 2008 Season. Go Warriors!
Sugar Bowl security did not let me take my camera into the stadium so I had to use pictures taken by my friend.
